Surface treatment
A surface can be defined as an abrupt interruption of the crystallographic arrangement ordered.

This interruption causes an alteration of the electronic properties at the atomic scale, therefore, modify the physicochemical properties of this particular region.

The arithmetic mean of the difference Ra is the measure most commonly used for surface roughness.

Titanium Grade V (Ti 6Al 4V ELI) is a very effective material for the manufacture of dental implants because it has a favorable combination of properties, such as low net weight, high compressive strength, elasticity, very high resistance to corrosion and excellent overall biocompatibility.

The excellent biocompatibility and therefore its perfect osseointegration is related to the material properties and the surface:
• a passive oxide very resistant film which protects the underlying metal from oxidation and corrosion.
• a very low dissolution rate of the oxide and an extremely low concentration of titanium charged layer.


 The In vivo studies showed good osseointegration with a range of roughness of 1.5 to 2 μ.

 The procedure not only creates a rough surface roughness, but also changes the chemical composition of the surface.

 The strong upward trend in levels of roughness improves the mechanical anchoring and the enveloping surface.

 The level of roughness of 10 μ micro - 1μ improves the interlocking of mineralized bone with the surface of the implant.

 And the surface roughness of the titanium micro-geometry are obtained by sanding the surface with alumina Al2O3, followed by etching using a combination of hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid oxide.

The implants are sterilized by gamma radiation.
